Every time Rose sees a pumpkin she yells “PINKIN” and it kills me. Because it’s all about fall over here, she’s loved finding “pinkins” everywhere in our house. There are so many little things that happen in my everyday with a toddler that I never expected. Impromptu pumpkin scavenger hunts has quickly moved to the top of my “things I love that I never did before kids” list.

Other things on that list include:

  • Dancing in the middle of the day for no reason (music optional).
  • Using every rectangular-shaped object as a pretend phone and calling everyone Rosie knows over and over again.
  • Taking all the blankets in the house and snuggling on the couch.
  • Tickle fights. Oh, the tickle fights.

I could go on and on.

I really cherish these everyday moments. It’s the simple parts of life that can bring the most happiness and give us the brightest memories. Just like love, the best things in life happen when you aren’t planning them.

So even when your Monday feels like the Mondayest Monday you’ve had in a while, take a deep breath and go hunt some pinkins on your front porch. It makes everything better, I promise.
